Welcome the OC Online Gun Certificate, the first Orange County Sheriff-authorized CCW Online Course. Expedite your CCW Renewal Certification by having your Training Certificate in hand for your application review. We will help you make your CCW Renewal process as easy, simple, and quick as possible to satisfy your 16-hour course for new CCW permit holders and 8-hour course for renewal CCW permit holders.
To qualify for your CCW Certificate, you must understand the California Penal Code sections relating to firearms and dealing with the permissible use of a firearm, where firearm possession is prohibited, and the civil and penal liability laws regarding firearms for the State of California.
You will complete all reading segments and all video segments and then take an online multiple-choice exam after each reading/video. You can not advance until the section you are on is completed. You are being monitor, so please pace yourself for 6 hours of classroom for renewal and 13 hours for new students. Finally, You will take a live fire exam with the same weapon(s) that will be listed on your license. The live fire exam will be at targets at 3, 5, and 7 yards from the student, 8 rounds per distance. (Totaling 24 rounds) for the initial firearm. All subsequent firearms will be a 20-round qualification, 10 rounds at 5 yards, 10 rounds at 7 yards, with 70% hit at each distance.
To begin, please follow these steps:
- Register at the bottom of this page. We will email you a link to our Moodle Portal, where you’ll be emailed a username, temporary password, and link to sign into the classroom. You will force to enter your new password once you have opened the portal. After you have signed into the classroom, you will be directed to the classroom where you will begin your lessons. Before you begin the course, please make sure to read the “Course Instructions”.
- Once you have completed your video lesson, you can begin your video exam by clicking “I AM READY TO TAKE THE EXAM”. The exam will become available. Make sure you enter your first and last name before you begin your exams. After you have completed your exams, “Log Out,” and we will email you your results within 12 hours. You must pass with a 70%. You’ll be given two free exams.
- To set up your live fire exam, email us with the date and time you would prefer. The proctor will contact you to schedule the time and location of your exam.
Once all three steps have been completed, we will email you the original “Course Completion Certificate”.
